THIS RARE FRENCH HUSSARS SABRE WAS EXCAVATED FROM THE FIELD OF WATERLOO BY SERGEANT MAJOR EDWARD COTTON WHO TOOK PART IN THE BATTLE IN THE 7TH HUSSARS AND OPENED A WATERLOO MUSEUM ON THE FIELD WHICH HE RAN UNTILL HIS DEMISE WHEN HIS TWO NIECES RAN IT UP TO 1909 WHEN IT WAS SOLD BY AUCTION

LATER ON DISPLAY IN OUR BROADSTAIRS WATERLOO MUSEUM 1987 – 1999 AND IN OUR STORAGE UNIT SINCE

RETAINING ITS MUSEUM LABEL / TAG IN COTTONS HAND STATING ” FOUND ON THE FIELD OF WATERLOO – MUSEUM ITEM NUMBER 23″
