FRENCH EARLY 19th CENTURY SAINT ETIENNE FLINTLOCK MUSKET - COTTON COLLECTION - JEANNE SULLY COLLECTION - BROADSTAIRS WATERLOO MUSEUM

This Early 19th Century French Saint Etienne Flintlock Musket is in Very Good Overall Condition with a Good Working Lock and strong spring – The Lock plate is engraved Mre Rle St Etienne and there is a date on the barrel of M 1814 so surmised to have been made during the Hundred Days

Its provenance includes The Cotton Collection (Sgt Major Edward Cotton Late 7th Hussars fought at Waterloo and had a splendid Waterloo Museum at the lion Mound untill his demise in 1849 when his two nieces continued running it untill 1909 when the museum contents were sold off by auction)
It later passed into the well know collection of Jeanne Sully and then onto the Broadstairs Waterloo Museum untill closure in 1999 and has been in storage since

Old details are included on a contemporary label which reads :-
