2nd LIFE GUARDS OFFICERS SWORD CIRCA 1854

This 2nd Life Guards Officers Sword is circa 1854 – The Blade Has Makers Name & Address of HAMBURGER ROGERS & CO – 30 KING ST – COVENT GARDEN – LONDON – Brian Robson states in Swords of the British Army (Revised Edition pages 135/136) that the Undress Pattern of this Sword was identical to the Dress version apart from a slightly different blade length – This example has been shortened quite possibly from combat service in the Crimea when the blade was broken and the leather scabbard has been shortened to match the blade – some gilt remaining on the hilt which has a folding guard and polished wood grip
